Symptom
The system does not assign an IP address and does not report it in the logs.
Cause
If 1 endpoint has 2 mac addresses registered in the NACVIEW system (e.g. mac address of the LAN card and WiFi card) and connects to the network with one card and gets, for example, VLAN 10, it receives an IP address. If the computer then connects to the second network card and gets the same VLAN (10), the system does not assign an IP and does not report it in the logs. The lease time for the first NIC must expire before the second NIC can get an IP address. This only happens if both hit the same VLAN at the same time.
This is especially noticeable if, for example, a user connects a laptop via WiFi and then connects the same laptop via a docking station. Or it has WiFi turned on and is placed in a LAN-connected docking station at the same time.
Resolution
A temporary recommendation is not to bind more than 1 mac address to one endpoint. This will be corrected in version 2.3.18 of the NACVIEW system.
